Lily of the Valley Lace Shawl

Recently I wrote about using stitch markers for the Lily of the Valley Socks. They are even more useful for the "Queen Silvia Shawl", which has even more lily repeat patterns. The pattern, found in Nancy Bush's book "Knitted Lace of Estonia," recommends 2 stitch markers for separating the garter stitch borders from the central lily lace pattern. I found it helpful to use additional stitch markers for separating the lily repeat patterns as well as the initial cast on. So far I have knitted 56 rows: the garter stitch border and 3 pattern repeats. I made two changes to the pattern instructions. Read more ....

Using Stitch Markers in Lily of the Valley Socks

Even though I haven't posted many knitting articles recently, I have completed 8 pairs of socks over the past 3 weeks, including another pair of lily of the valley socks as a gift. Zigzag Lace

Zigzag openwork lace blocks alternating with stocking stitch blocks form the basic checkerboard lace fabric for the Boat Neck Lace Tee. When knitted with a 60%/40% acrylic / wool blend, the result is a soft, light weight sweater. The lace is a 12 row repeat comprised of SSKs, YOs and K2togs. Read more ... for the lace pattern.

Boat Neck Lace Tee

I've always loved boatneck collars and I find sewn, crocheted and knitted tees very practical to wear year-round under suit jackets, as well as without a jacket in summer. Besides, I prefer to have shoulder pads in the tailored jacket, not the underlying top. This light weight tee is one size to fit bust sizes 32-38". It features cap sleeves, a checkerboard grid lace pattern, and 2 x 2 ribbing for the neckline and waist- and armbands. The yarn is soft, light-weight and comfortable as well as enjoyable for knitting.     Read more ...     photo coming
