This series of five two-hour classes introduced the basics of crocheting via swatching and crocheting one or more projects using the techniques learned. Students learned to crochet a versatile, reconfigurable beret, along with intermediate and designer crochet techniques.

Five of us took a card weaving class this past Sunday afternoon and each of us created a woven band in 4 colors of our choosing. Our excellent instructor, Joan, had us designing from the get go and we had 50 odd colors of 5/2 Astra, mercerized cotton with which to create our designs. It's difficult to say which part of the class I liked best--it was well designed and fun! In part, my fascination stems from the connection to peoples long ago. The earliest known examples of card or tablet weaving date from 945 to 745 BC--those early Egyptians were brilliant!
