Summer Means Baby Showers

Shilda has been busy knitting for all the new babies born and expected this year. She learned to knit socks with the Picot and Windmill socks pattern and began with a classic, white, cuff-down sock in fingering weight yarn. Shown in size 6-12 month and quickly knitted in fingering weight Peruvian wool, these socks feature all the design elements of an adult sock, but scaled down. In fact Shilda's next project is a matching pair of dad and son socks. Read more for pattern information and related links ....

Knit Picks is a high quality supplier from whom I have purchased many knitting needles, patterns, supplies, and yarns over the years. I was pleased when they began partnering with independent designers because this greatly increased the number and variety of affordable patterns available for purchase.

Doe with Twins

Doe with TwinsDoe with Twins This is the first time I've ever seen twin fawns and I actually didn't see the one lying down in the foreground when I took the photo, so I was lucky to catch the twins and the doe. We knew there were a couple born a few weeks ago, because another Paint Creek Trail walker had seen them nursing.

It seems to be the year for twins. One of my good friends had twins this year: a boy and a girl, Vincent and Gabriella. This inspired me to knit baby clothes, one of which was inspired by colors of plants along the trail (A Trio of Orange Delights). Read more .... to see additional deer photos.
