Picot Cast On

Picot Cast On Picot Cast On After I wrote the picot bind off (cast off) article, there were a number of reader inquiries for picot cast on instructions. Like the picot bind off, you can create a delicate finish of bobbles of good elasticity--ideal for sock cuffs. Also like the related bind off, the picot size is determined by the number of stitches cast on and then bound off together. Basic Cast Off

I ended up using the basic cast off for the 2x2 rib cuff on the toe up sock because I needed a loose cast off for stretch. I also tried the Kitchener cast off (looked nice) and the crochet cast off (looked like the basic cast off) and decided simple was better and it suited the sock design.

Crochet Cast Off

I tried 3 different cast offs for the basic toe up sock to see which one I liked best for the spring green sock. The crochet cast off and the basic cast off look similar. Here is a brief description of the crochet cast off method.
