Recently I wrote about using stitch markers for the Lily of the Valley Socks. They are even more useful for the "Queen Silvia Shawl", which has even more lily repeat patterns. The pattern, found in Nancy Bush's book "Knitted Lace of Estonia," recommends 2 stitch markers for separating the garter stitch borders from the central lily lace pattern. I found it helpful to use additional stitch markers for separating the lily repeat patterns as well as the initial cast on. I've always loved boatneck collars and I find sewn, crocheted and knitted tees very practical to wear year-round under suit jackets, as well as without a jacket in summer. Since I have narrow shoulders, this silhouette also creates the illusion of broader shoulders without the need for shoulder pads. Besides, I prefer to have shoulder pads in the tailored jacket, not the underlying top. This light weight tee is one size to fit bust sizes 32-38". It features cap sleeves, a checkerboard grid lace pattern, and 2 x 2 ribbing for the neckline and waist- and armbands. These colorful, straight needles came from my mother-in-law's collection and were in high use for over 50 years. They are British (pre-metric) sizes, so when I use them I have to employ my needle gauge.
