It's taken me a while to learn how to post pattern and project information on Ravelry. So that's why you haven't heard from me for a few days. Now that I've added two Knit Picks patterns: Whirligig Gloves and Two Toes Tubes (infant socks), I look forward to seeing your versions of these patterns posted on Ravelry as well.

Flower SprayI was introduced to cross stitching at age 26 by the plant nurse at the foundry where we both worked. I was the only female in manufacturing, so it was nice to spend my lunch hour with another female professional. In addition to projects for her home and family, she cross stitched small designs that could be sold at a church bazaar to raise funds for charity, like Christmas ornaments, and inspirational or entertaining wall hangings and desk ornaments. Design Features: Knitted with dusk blue merino superwash wool, and a slip stitch heel flap (on the bottom of the foot), so comfortable that the first time I tried the on socks I had the sensation of stepping into the clouds. Designed by Charlene Schurch and featuring the "Oriel" stitch pattern, reminiscent of peacock feathers, this toe up, lace sock features a slip stitch heel for comfort and and durability, a standard toe (with Kitchener bind off) and 1x1 ribbing. This sock was selected for both the stitch pattern and as an example of a sock design, enhanced by a toe up construction method.

Red Wing BlackbirdThe red-wing blackbird made me think of the many budding artists and designers I have met at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) over the years. Often the automotive design instructors and students wore black, yes and the ubiquitous turtle neck, but they carried themselves with style and cuts that framed their faces and their personalities. There may have been an accent pin or scarf as well. As a result, you remember the face, the smile, the person, with the clothes serving as a backdrop. This set me to thinking of the needlework designers that have influenced my work either directly or indirectly.
