I enjoyed knitting this reversible New Wave scarf, designed by Lynne Barr--it is both interesting to knit and look at. The heathered blue Aran (4) yarn with flecks of sea foam and algae green color, complement the wave pattern and the merino/silk/cashmere fiber caresses the skin like gentle waves. These sweetheart head and wristbands were inspired by the colors of the spring blooming, heart-shaped dicentra (bleeding heart); cream, with dark and light pinks.
This high relief, textured hair band, is 2-3/8" wide, knitted flat and joined to form a ring using a Kitchener (grafting) stitch. Optionally, the band can be seamed at the center back to form the ring. The design features garter stitch borders, a center cable of light pink Xs and dark pink Os and slip stitch accents. The band stretches in both directions so it is forgiving, size wise.
The pattern is provided in written and charted formats for medium headband (19"-21") and wristband (6"-7") circumferences. Instructions for custom sizing are also included. Read more for gauge, yarn and other pattern information:
I should have photographed this headband long ago, but it was so comfortable, practical and flattering that I kept wearing it, laundering it and wearing it. So now we have a photo of a well worn headband, which means I'll have to make another to photograph.
The slot in the back is a buttonhole. The headband has buttonhole elastic on the inside, fastened with a flat button to allow adjustment, both initially and should it stretch with time.
This pair of wrist warmers features an "O X O" cable pattern for each wrist and 1 x 1 ribbed cuffs. With 4.0 mm circular needles they knit up as quickly as a swatch. This is a variation of the pattern in the Hugs and Kisses Wrist warmers article with two changes. Instead of a 24 row pattern, 25 rows were used to keep the second "O" from being compressed by the ribbing. Also a different yarn was used. Read more ... for additional information.
