Yarn guides fit on your index finger and have channels that guide multiple colors of yarn to prevent them from tangling. They also speed work when doing mosaic patterns or other color patterns. I find the "open" type on the bottom to be more comfortable to wear, but the closed guide is easier to use with larger diameter yarns.
