I was amazed at the texture and shine the Satin yarn developed when knitted in the baby cable pattern. The photo doesn't show the full lustre, but it does show the texture. I wasn't sure how well defined the pattern would be, since the yarn is a dark blue and very soft to the touch. This is why you should occasionally have a friend (even a non-knitter) select yarn for you. Please note, these leg warmers are sized to fit over blue jeans, like the olive green ones I knitted earlier. This keeps snow out of the hiking boots!
Both her daughters studied dance and wore leg warmers, so she has had lots of experience with them and is not shy about bright colors and interesting designs. I found that they are great for keeping snow out of your hiking boots and for protecting the cuffs of your pants. Plus, they spice up blue jeans as much as you dare! As a thank you I am knitting her a couple of pairs of leg warmers--with button closures. I prefer the lace rib pattern of these blue leg warmers over the twisted rib pattern of the olive green leg warmers I knit earlier.
