Fun is the operative word for Lion Brand's colorful "furs." I love the colors/patterns and hand and bought a few balls of yarn in 2006 to try them out. I made scarves for warm and cold weather--the yarn is versatile enough for light weight boas or, when knitted as a tube scarf, warm and attractive for winter. I ended up buying more yarn for quick gifts (large needles) after friends and family admired them and asked where they could be purchased.
Red Fun FurLion Brand Yarn Company, Fancy Fur, Rainbow red (213), Eyelash yarn, 55%:45% Nylon:Polyester 1-1/2 oz. When I'm out shopping, people often come up to me to ask where I got this scarf. See related article, Red Fancy Fur Scarf, for instructions and a photo of the scarf and coat. It was fun to knit and is fun to touch.
Confetti YarnLion Brand Yarn Company, Fun Fur Prints, Confetti (color 206), Italy.
Eyelash yarn, Polyester, 1-1/2 oz (40 gm). The boa knitted from this yarn and worn with an antique rose silk tunic got lots of complements at summer art fairs. I would describe these as fingering weight yarns, with bells and whistles. See related article, Confetti Boa, for pattern instructions and a photo of the blouse and boa.
Confetti DetailAlthough I used my own designs, the fun fur balls come with easy scarf instructions and there are additional free patterns on Lion's web site. Because of the long eyelashes, a scarf knitted in a stockinette stitch looks exotic, is forgiving of minor mistakes and requires no special selvage finishes. This close-up of the Confetti yarn, shows the color variation and eyelashes not apparent in the skein photo.
Wool-EaseLion Brand Yarn Company, Wool-Ease, 80%:20% acrylic:wool, 3 oz in each of two colors: Gold (620-171) and Natural Heather (620-098). This worsted weight yarn was used for the Braided Headband. The natural heather was also used for a cabled dress.
Aran PackGlanworth Mills, Aran-pack, County Cork (Ireland), 100% worsted weight wool, green. This is a yellow-green (like spring grass), though the camera didn't accurately capture the yellow color. This yarn is the main color for the Single Digit Hat.
KoiguKoigu RT Wool Designs, Koigu KPPPM (Koigu Painter's Palette Premium Merino), color multi #532, Canada.
