BABY GARMENTS
Baseball Baby Layette (booties, raglan sweater, and cap): The New Lux Knitting Book: Designs for the Whole Family, 1958 Edition, pages 26-28. Lux was a soap manufacturer.
Leaf-Bordered Baby Set From: "Sugar 'N Spice Fashions", McCall's Needlework & Crafts, Spring-Summer 1967, pp. 50, 96 and 97. I knit this lovely set in white acrylic in 2007, and didn't have time to photograph it, before the baby shower. It looked lovely when completed, but I had to concentrate when I knitted the sweater because the lace stitch pattern comprised 48 rows and the YOs had to be watched carefully. The cap was much easier to knit after completing the sweater and the crown decrease pattern was striking. I will add a photograph the next time I knit this layette.
This was definitely not your knit while watching TV sweater, but I will make it again. It was worth the effort. To make it easier to follow, I created a MS ExcelTM spread-sheet to visualize the stitch pattern and reduce the likelihood of errors.
