Images in this series

  1. Start by drawing a circle on cardstock, half the diameter of the pompom desired. This example shows a 3/4" outside circle and a 3/8" inside circle (half the outer circle diameter). Two 3/4" discs are required to make a 1.5" diameter pompom and are stacked one atop the other.
  2. 90" of sport weight cotton is wound around the twin discs.
  3. Disc fully wrapped with yarn.
  4. Cut the yarns.
  5. Separate the two cardstock discs.
  6. With a piece of yarn or strong coordinating thread, tie the yarns about the center, between the two cardstock discs.
  7. With sharp scissors, trim the pompoms.
