- The first stitch has been slipped purlwise with the yarn in front.
- Form a purl stitch by passing the right hand needle through the front of the left hand loop and draw the yarn through. In the photo you can see the slipped stitch (with the yarn in front) as the second stitch in from the end of the right hand needle.
- The purl stitch has been released from the left hand needle and is now the stitch closest to the end of the right hand needle.
- The left hand needle is used to pick up the slipped stitch ...
- and pass it over the purled stitch closest to the left hand end of the right hand needle.
- The slipped stitch has been released and the decrease completed.
- The blue needle indicates the rightward slanting decrease on the stocking stitch side of the fabric.
