PicotsMohair Glove The picot bind off is a delicate looking finish of bobbles, that has good elasticity. It begins with a normal bind off of one or two stitches and then employs a combination of cable cast ons and clustered bind offs. This method was used to finish the long, mohair gloves.

Picot Bind Off Instructions
The first 3 steps are the standard bind off. From step 4 onwards the picot bind off varies from a standard bind off.

Part A - Regular Bind Off Beginning

1. Step 3 Step 2Step 1Knit the first stitch as for a normal bind off.
2. Knit the second stitch as in a normal bind off.
3. Pass the first stitch (furthest from the end of the right hand needle over the stitch closest to the end of the needle (normal bind off).



Step 4Part B - Picot Edging


4. Return the single stitch from the right hand needle to the left hand needle.



Step 5 a Step 5b Step 6a Step 6b










5. The first of two cable cast ons is performed. The stitch is is added by drawing a loop from between two stitches(5a) and placing it on the end of the needle (5b).
6. The second of two cable cast ons is performed in steps 6a and 6b.

Step 7a Step 7b Step 7c Picot









7. Now 4 sts will be bound off pairwise, beginning with the two cable cast ons, the original stitch and then subsequent stitches.
   K1 (the most recent cable cast on) Step 7a
   K1 (the next of the two cable cast ons), bind off one Steps 7b & 7c
   K1 (the original stitch returned to the left hand needle from the right hand needle), bind off one
   K1, bind off one
   K1, bind off one
8. Repeat steps 4 to 7 until a single loop remains. Cut the yarn, and draw the tail through this last loop. Weave in end.
