- Needle (DPN) coming through leading edge of first loop, in the row above the provisional stitches.
- Needle guided through four stitches. The process is repeated with a second dpn, for the stitches below the loop.
- A crochet hook can be used to pick up the two stitches on each side of the thumb opening after the waste yarn has been removed.
- Once these two stitches have been picked up (left side opening), they are transferred to a DPN and the thumb stitches are knitted. Then two stitches on the remaining side (right) are picked up and the stitches across the bottom dpn are knitted.
